Synopsis

After the events of the Level Upper incident in season one, normality seems to have returned to life in Academy City. Until one day Mikoto gets the feeling that she is being watched. Eventually, she finds out about the Someone is Watching You urban legend and that several other students have also been experiencing the same thing, eventually driving them into social withdrawal. As the number of such discomforting moments increases, Mikoto steadily becomes more paranoid and it is now up to her friends, Shirai Kuroko, Uiharu Kazari, and Saten Ruiko to help her out of this predicament.

TL;DR Review

The OVA theme and plot fit right in with the TV series, and I would even say the production seems better. If you like season one, then you’ll definitely like this OVA.

The OVA started well and then it gets to the obligatory nude fanservice with the unnecessary bathhouse scenes. The OVA contains a little more fetishes than the TV series, but the writing and animation are both well done. We explored a little more of their friendship.

Recommended for those that enjoyed the TV series. A Certain Scientific Railgun OVA contains some graphic violence, some suggestive theme/dialogs, and some nudity. Intended for young adults.

The Vision of Escaflowne Season 1 (1996) Review

The Vision of Escaflowne (Japanese: 天空のエスカフローネ Hepburn: Tenkū no Esukafurōne, lit. Escaflowne of the Heavens) is a 26-episode Japanese anime television series produced by Sunrise Studios and directed by Kazuki Akane.

Gaea is an alternate dimension that was created from the combined wishes of the inhabitants of Atlantis when it started to sink into the ocean. Gaea has 100 different countries. On Gaea, Earth is known as the Mystic Moon. Gaea’s size, mass, atmospheric composition, temperature belts, and even seasons is the same as to those of Earth. Though it has a lesser gravity as seen with some of the jumping and acrobatic feats of some of the show’s characters. The series focuses on the heroine, Hitomi Kanzaki, and her adventures after she is transported to the world of Gaea, a mysterious planet where she can see Earth and its moon in the sky. Hitomi’s latent psychic powers are enhanced on Gaea and she quickly becomes embroiled in the conflicts between the Zaibach Empire led by Emperor Isaac Dornkirk and the several peaceful countries that surround it. The conflicts are brought about by the Zaibach Empire’s quest to revive the legendary power from the ancient city of Atlantis. As the series progresses, many of the characters’ pasts and motivations, as well as the history of Atlantis and the true nature of the planet Gaea, are revealed.

Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online Season 1 (2018) Review

Due to the incident that occurred in VR MMORPG Sword Art Online — where 10,000 players were trapped in the game on launch day — the popularity of VR games has plummeted due to fear of similar incidents. The NerveGear, SAO’s VR device, was recalled and destroyed, but with the launch of its successor, the AmuSphere, combined with the release of the license-free development support package the “Seed,” the popularity of VR games saw a sudden resurgence.

The story follows Karen Kohiruimaki, a university student with a complex about her abnormal height. She begins playing a VR game called Gun Gale Online after it gives her the short, cute avatar that she has always wanted.
