– Ninja Battoman
Imagine someone wrote a fanfic for Batman that took place in feudal Japan, and throw in a few Japanese tropes, then you have the Batman Ninja movie. The premise is ridiculous, and so are the action and story of this movie.
The animation is both beautiful and horrifying at the same time. This is a 3D CGI animated film where some combat fights are fluid while other are so zoomed in you can’t tell what is going on. The character designs are great for some, but comedically terrifying for other (Robin and Joker). About 95% of the movie is in 3D, and it has a short intermission of a sort where the art changes to a painting style. It was a bit jarring. I wasn’t sure if the whole movie going to be a bunch of mismatched art style thrown together.
I have many issues with this movie, it’s hard to sum it down to a short TL;DR. I’ll just throw a bullet point then.
– Too many characters.
– Laughingly childish story and premise.
– Giant castle Voltron robot.
– Convenient side characters/army introduction.
– Batman instant ninjutsu power.
– Robin hairstyle and mascot introduction.
I am usually a fan of the DC’s Warner Bros. Animation series, but I can not say I would recommend this movie to anyone I know. Batman Ninja contains graphic violence and mild suggestive themes/dialogs. Intended for young adults.
