TL;DR Review

The animation is on par with the TV series, which is to say it is good. The special reused the TV themes. The opening theme used the second season-opening “Gamushara” by Miyuna while the ending theme uses the first season-opening “Haruka Mirai” (Distant Future) by Kankaku Piero.

This is basically a glorified recap special wrapped in a nice “quiz show” premise with an anything-goes comedy routine. I was hesitant at first but it grew on me quickly and finding myself having a big grin. Asta isn’t as annoying as his usual self is always a plus.

Though it’s short, it does expand on each captain personality a bit. The star of this episode is Gordon. Not only were his scenes hilarious, but they are downright creepy.

Though I enjoy the special, it isn’t something you watch without already being a fan of the series. Black Clover is intended for young teens.

Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike (2009) Movie Review

A long time has passed since the end of a massive war between humans and monsters. A new type of energy named “aer” was discovered. When crystallized, this substance became the energy source for “blastia”, an ancient civilization’s technology that provided a wide array of essential abilities for humanity. Despite its manipulation, mankind still has little knowledge of what exactly is “aer”. On a mission to eradicate a horde of monsters near the town of Shizotania, a group of knights comes across a strange surge of “aer”. Yuri Lowell and Flynn Scifo are two new members fresh out of the academy of the knight division. Both are childhood friends who went separate ways but ended up meeting each other once again while enlisting to serve the Empire.

A Certain Magical Index Season 2 Review

On a transfer from England to Japan the “The Book of the Law” has been stolen. This is all the more disturbing since deciphering this book supposedly spells the end of the Roman Catholic Church, and thus destroys the equilibrium of power in the world. To make matters worse the nun, Orsola Aquinas, who recently discovered a way to decipher the book, has been kidnapped…

At the Academy City the Daihaseisai, a sports festival, is underway. This “opportunity” is used to trade the Stab Sword — a spiritual weapon capable of killing Saints with one blow. But as it turns out the actual sword in question is far more dangerous…
