TL;DR Review

The animation is on par with the TV series, which is to say it is good. The special reused the TV themes. The opening theme used the second season-opening “Gamushara” by Miyuna while the ending theme uses the first season-opening “Haruka Mirai” (Distant Future) by Kankaku Piero.

This is basically a glorified recap special wrapped in a nice “quiz show” premise with an anything-goes comedy routine. I was hesitant at first but it grew on me quickly and finding myself having a big grin. Asta isn’t as annoying as his usual self is always a plus.

Though it’s short, it does expand on each captain personality a bit. The star of this episode is Gordon. Not only were his scenes hilarious, but they are downright creepy.

Though I enjoy the special, it isn’t something you watch without already being a fan of the series. Black Clover is intended for young teens.
