TL;DR Review

Despite Blue Exorcist: Runaway Kuro being a 24 minutes long OVA, it was surprisingly deep. The story is told from Kuro point of view. We see a glimpse of other side characters’ quirk, which further fleshed out their personality. This OVA was rather touching and actually further develop these characters.

The animation is on par with the first season of Blue Exorcist. The opening and ending theme for the OVA is the same as the first TV opening/ending of season one. The opening is “Core Pride” by Uverworld and the ending is “Take Off” by 2PM.

I recommend the OVA to all Blue Exorcist fan. This OVA contains mild graphic violence and suggestive themes/dialogs. Intended for young adults.

It falls to Kyoya to finish what his father started and battle his way through demons while protecting a young woman from harm. The only problem is that he’s not exactly your classic hero type, and his powers are still latent.
