– Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Impure King Arc OVA
– Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga OVA
– Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujō Ō-hen OVA
– 青の祓魔師 京都不浄王篇 OVA
A two-episode OVA that was bundled with the 19th and 20th Katou Kazue’s Blue Exorcist manga.
The animation and music are on par with season two of Blue Exorcist. The opening theme is “Itteki no Eikyō” (一滴の影響; Drop’s Influence) by UVERworld and the ending theme is “Kono Te de” (コノ手デ; With This Hand) by Rin Akatsuki. I especially enjoy “Kono Te de”.
The first episode, called Snake and Poison, essentially is a slice of life anime that give us an extra background to Mamushi Hojo downfall. It expanded on her awkward personality to show how she was manipulated into helping Toudou. It wrapped up the episode with the marriage proposal from Blue Exorcist’s season two. I do enjoy this episode even it isn’t very deep.
The second episode, called Spy Game, revolves around Shima Renzou and expanded on his personalities. This is more a comedy filler type of episode at first but could have a deeper ramification down the road. It isn’t clear when this took place, but I suspect this may affect the future season of Blue Exorcist.
These episodes aren’t very interesting unless you are already a fan. I would only suggest this OVA series to fan that already seen season two. This OVA contains mild graphic violence and suggestive themes/dialogs. Intended for young adults.
