Season six of One Piece marked the end of the screenwriter Junki Takegami contribution to the TV series.
The animation is consistent with the previous season. From episode 169, there is a new intro theme “Bon Voyage” by Bon-Bon Blanco. It is decent, though not one of my favorite. The remaining three new ending themes are “Faith” by Ruppina, “A to Z” by ZZ, and “Tsuki to Taiyō” (月と太陽, lit. The Moon and The Sun) by shela. The stand out songs are “Faith” and “Tsuki to Taiyō”.
This season arc may have been stretched out a bit too thin as it is not one of my favorite arcs. I prefer a shorter arc but this was the beginning of Toei Animation super long arcs and filler strategy.
Since the last season was all filler episodes, this season, surprisingly, contain no filler episodes. This is rather a long season with a long story arc. This season we got introduced to a few major characters like Black Beard, and some minor one like “Bellamy the Hyena”.
If you’re a One Piece fan, I know you are going to be watching this no matter what I say. Most of the sub-plots in the Sky Island are quite forgettable. One Piece contains moderate graphic violence and suggestive themes/dialogs. Intended for young adults.
