On his adventures, he meets new friends, enemies, and his own disciple, the cyborg Genos, and also joins the Hero Association in order to gain fame for all of his actions to prevent evil. Despite defeating many strong monsters that even the Hero Association’s top heroes are unable to defeat, Saitama struggles to gain respect. Most people discriminate him due to his plain physical appearance and some accuse him of being a counterfeit hero. Only a small number of individuals recognize his incredible talent and humility towards others.
The Japanese shortened name Wanpanman is a play on the long-running children’s character Anpanman, wanpan being a contraction of wanpanchi (“one punch”).
One-Punch Man (Japanese: ワンパンマン Hepburn: Wanpanman) is an ongoing Japanese superhero webcomic created by ONE which began publication in early 2009.
The animation is great and sharp. Colors aren’t too vibrant but still pack a punch (pun intended).
The opening theme song is “The Hero!! ~Ikareru Ken ni Honō o Tsukero~” (THE HERO!! ～怒れる拳に火をつけろ～, “The Hero!! Set Fire to the Furious Fist”) by JAM Project, and the ending theme is “Hoshi Yori Saki ni Mitsukete Ageru” (星より先に見つけてあげる, “I’ll Find It Before the Stars for You”) by Hiroko Moriguchi. I especially like the ending theme.
This series has great writing, characters, and visual. What else can you ask for? I don’t think I need to sell this series anymore as it is near perfect. Why are you still reading this review instead of watching One Punch Man?
I would recommend this series to the fan of action anime. One Punch Man contains graphic violence and suggestive themes/dialogs. Intended for young adults.
