Radiant Season 1 Review
Radiant
ラディアン (Radian)

Synopsis

Seth is an aspiring sorcerer from the Pompo Hills area. Like all wizards, he is an "infected": one of the few living beings who survived the contact of the Nemesis, these creatures fallen from the sky that contaminates and decimate all those they touch. His apparent immunity made him choose a path which seemed to him to be all the more appropriate: to become a Hunter and to fight the Nemesis. But more than that, Seth wants to engage in a quest that goes beyond the simple hunt for monsters... He wants to find the Radiant, their presumed cradle. Surrounded by a faction of sorcerers, he traveled the world in search of the Radiant, under the terrible eye of the Inquisition...

TL;DR Review

Radiant (Japanese: ラディアン Hepburn: Radian) is a Japanese anime television series based on the French comic of the same name by author Tony Valente.

The animation, though sharp and clean, is rather simple. It lacks the finer details, which give it a very “animated for kid” kind of vibe. The colors are vibrant and pleasing to watch.

The opening theme song is “Utopia” by 04 Limited Sazabys. The ending theme song is “Radiant” by Polkadot Stingray.

After eight episodes, I feel I am done with the series. The show pacing is incredibly slow and seems to meander about. It feels like the entire series is made of filler episodes.

The main character is loud and your typical Naruto type. He isn’t as annoying as Black Clover‘s main character, yet. So far, I haven’t found any relatable or likable traits from him or any of the supporting characters.

Many people jokingly compared this anime to Fairy Tail. I am not sure if I would take that as a compliment, as I also struggle to watch that series.

I can’t recommend this series to anyone who enjoys good writing. Maybe this show would be fun for the age demographic they are shooting for, like the 5 to 8-year-old. Fairy… I mean Radiant contains graphic violence and is intended for children.
