Scrapped Princess Season 1 Review
Scrapped Princess
スクラップド・プリンセス (Sukurappudo Purinsesu)

Pacifica Casull is the most feared and hated person by the followers of the God Mauser. Known as the Scrapped Princess, she is the poison that will destroy the world. To avoid being killed by the zealots of Mauser, Pacifica and her adoptive brother and sister leave the village of Manhurin. Her brother, Shannon, is an expert with the sword while Racquel is proficient with magic. At every step of the way, however, someone is constantly trying to kill Pacifica, hoping to somehow avert the catastrophe that is supposed to befall the world on her 16th birthday.

TL;DR Review

Scrapped Princess is one of the less well-known gems of an anime.

The animation style is a little dated and reminds me a bit of an older anime, Slayers. The colors are a bit muted and dark in most scenes.

The opening theme “Little Wing” by JAM Project featuring Masami Okui and closing theme “Daichi no la-li-la” by Yoko Ueno and Masumi Itou are both catchy.

The show starts out as high-fantasy with magic and later switchgear to be a different type of genre. Though the plot would lead you to think it should be darker, the light comedy keeps this series from becoming too dark. This was created by studio Bones, which later bring you other awesome shows like Darker than Black and My Hero Academia.

Character design is a bit old fashion at this point, including huge shoulder pads and all. The story and pacing may feel slow with today standard.

I do recommend this anime to those looking for something good and less known to watch. A good show to watch to help you wind down. Scrapped Princess contains graphic violence and mild suggestive themes/dialogs. Intended for young adults.
